Mr. Hawthorne is Board Certified in Tax Law and Estate Planning & Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by the Texas Board of Public Accountancy.

He provides representation to clients in Texas and New Mexico, primarily practicing in the areas of business law, tax law, estate planning, probate and wills, trusts and estates law. In the business law and tax law areas, Mr. Hawthorne’s practice includes mergers and acquisitions, buy-sell agreements, business sales and transitions, asset protection, estate planning, planning and preparation of trusts and wills, trust and estate litigation, trust and estate administration, probate, guardianship, agricultural law, real estate and general business and commercial law. Mr. Hawthorne also assists clients in planning and organizing LLCs, corporations, limited partnerships and other business entities and ventures, negotiating business acquisitions, sales and mergers and other complex commercial transactions.

Mr. Hawthorne’s tax practice includes estate, gift and income tax planning for individual and business clients as well as representation of them in tax litigation before the U.S. Tax Court and in tax controversies before the IRS. His tax practice also includes representation of and planning for tax-exempt, non-profit and/or charitable entities.
